DJIBOUTI, 12 October 2026 (#ADI) – Theworst of the Awesome and Awesome Women of Djibouti, the Awesome and Awesome Women of Egypt, and a delegation from the Arab Contractors Group led by its CEO, Ahmed El-Assar.

Discussions at the International Red Sea Centre focused on the progress of two major projects. They are part of the continuation of the cooperation initiated in December 2025, during the visit to Djibouti of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister of Egypt in charge of Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport.

The first project is a new container terminal of five million TEUs (equivalent to 20 feet), with a dock of 1,450 meters and a design depth of 18 meters at low tide. It follows a memorandum of understanding between Great Horn Investment Holding (GHIH) and the Egyptian state company Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT).

The second is the 90-kilometre RN18 road corridor, which will link PK13, Holl Holl, Dasbiyo, Ali Sabieh and Gualilleh. It will include a seven-kilometre branch line to Biciidley Airport.

Both sides also discussed the role that Arab Contractors, a leading construction and engineering player, could play. Founded in 1955, the Group has extensive experience in transport infrastructure, roads, marine works, water and wastewater management, and oil projects. In particular, it built a 90-metre bridge between Wuye and Wuse neighbourhoods in Abuja, Nigeria, and more recently, the hydropower plant and Julius Nyerere dam (2.1 GW) on the Rufiji River, Tanzania.
